Position Details
Oregon Trail Eye and Surgery Center is actively looking to add another mission-minded Ophthalmologist to our practice. We strive to provide cutting-edge ophthalmology services with a sense of compassion and personalized care to our neighbors in Western Nebraska, Eastern Wyoming, and the surrounding areas.
This is an opportunity to work near the unique geological feature that are the bluffs as well as the vastness of the great plains. This is a full-time position in an outpatient clinic. 100% outpatient opportunity with a Monday-Friday schedule. We have a phenomenal team of well-trained, efficient office personnel with a fully equipped office. The practice includes a surgery center in Scottsbluff as well as 5 satellite locations that the surgeons regularly fly to on the practice’s airplane.

Since 1978, our providers and staff at Oregon Trail Eye Clinic have been committed to providing the best possible care to our neighbors in Western Nebraska, Eastern Wyoming and the surrounding areas. At our fully-certified ambulatory (outpatient) surgery center in Scottsbluff, these same providers work along side a highly skilled surgical team, to provide state-of-the-art eye surgery in a comfortable, relaxed environment. Whether it’s our clinic or our surgery center; our experienced team is committed to ensuring that every patient receives the highest quality, individualized care they deserve.
At Oregon Trail Eye & Surgical Center you will find a highly trained team of specialists working in the fields of glaucoma, corneal, retinal disease, dry eyes, and cataracts, as well as lesser known ophthalmology diseases and treatments. Our physicians are committed to high quality patient care by promoting a collaboration with other local and regional optometry and ophthalmology professionals to ensure the highest level and most comprehensive care available.
The team also provides access to sub-specialty expertise, from cataract correction to the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, diabetic eye care, treatment of problems that affect the retina and cornea, as well as oculoplastics (functional and cosmetic “plastic surgery” for the skin and tissues surrounding the eye).
The fully certified outpatient surgery center has been designed by and for eye surgeons and patient convenience. We offer all of the specialized technologies patients would expect from a modern hospital to support the skills of our surgeons, with one very important difference—we’ve replaced the bureaucracy and red tape of the hospital with convenience and comfort.
For nearly two decades, there has been no turnover among the physicians practicing at Oregon Trail Eye Clinic. Additionally, over the last 25 years, 100% of doctors at the clinic have become partners.

Thousands of acres of public land in the region is made possible by Platte River Basin Environments (PRBE), a 501(c) (3) corporation formed by a group of sportsmen of western Nebraska concerned about deteriorating conditions of important wildlife habitat and the natural areas in the North Platte River Basin. PRBE has been able to open areas for public access to include hiking, biking, hunting, photography, bird watching, fishing, horseback riding, and other outdoor activities that encourage community participation and preservation of western Nebraska heritage while protecting and preserving wildlife and the area’s unique natural resources.
Scottsbluff is home to the main campus of a community college and career education is provided in a wide variety of subjects. The local High School is a state-of-the-art career academy offering students the opportunity to earn college credits in many of the courses and careers available. In addition to the high school, the Scottsbluff School District has one middle school and six neighborhood elementary schools, serving a total of more than 2,600 students.
The local hospital is a premier regional hospital and the area’s largest employer. It was recently named one of the Top 10 Rural & Community Hospitals in the United States and the only hospital in Nebraska to be named in the top 10 percent of the nation for patient safety and a five-star recipient for treatment of pulmonary embolism and pneumonia.
